Since 2008, ARTlifeCULTURE has been responsible for the design and development of children’s and youth arts programmes around the world. With summer SING! we bring some of the flair and freedom of our international programmes home. We have looked at our city and its citizens and have shaped a programme for our children which communicates our love of singing and our strong pride of place. summer SING! 2014 will see 200 young SINGERS! experience the rich history and culture of Cork City while nurturing their natural singing ability.

I would like to thank: our Festival Operations Director, Alicia Edwards, from her position as Children’s Chorus Manager at the METropolitan Opera in New York City; our guest conductor, David Brophy, all the way from Dublin and from his various conducting roles nationally and internationally; Robert and Ray and Orla and all the team at Cork Deaf Association for their trust and collaboration and for this year’s SING! and SIGN!; and Kevinder Singh Tan, ARTlifeCULTURE’s International Programmes Manager, who has successfully completed a Masters in Management and Marketing at UCC through our partnership with University College Cork International Office and who will soon return home to Malaysia. Kevin, we will ALL miss you!

I would like to specially mention, thank and CHEER, the ARTlifeCULTURE family – the summer SING! 2014 Team – for your energy and enthusiasm, generosity and bravery, and most importantly for your SINGING! You guys ROCK!

Together we thank Music Generation Cork City for their partnership, Triskel Christchurch and participating venues for throwing open their doors in welcome, Cork Deaf Association and the National Council for the Blind for their collaboration and training, Cork City Council Arts Office, Cork City Council Social Inclusion Unit, University College Cork International Office, and KBC Bank for their support and, finally, we thank you, the parents, for allowing us to engage with your children, for without them, none of this would be possible.

summer SING! 2014 is here! Enjoy! We will see you again in 2015!
