And so we prepare for year three of summer SING! our unique week-long children’s singing festival which allows children to experience the rich history and culture of Cork City while nurturing their natural singing ability.
Each day 360 children, aged from 6 to 14 years, will gather in Triskel Christchurch and Cork City Hall where they will be welcomed by more than one hundred professional and volunteer staff from Ireland, the USA and Malaysia. They will begin their day singing together before moving through Cork City to experience smaller group rehearsals. Over the course of the week our young summer SINGERS! will each have engaged with more than twenty of Cork City’s historic, cultural and civic spaces.
summer SING! songs are formal, festival and fun. At the end of each day, parents and friends will be welcomed to witness the children’s accumulation of learning in end-of-day-whole-group-sessions. Open-air warm-ups, impromptu public performances and collaborative performances will feature throughout the week. Our summer SING! and SIGN! will return and it is hoped that a Cork Children’s Chorus 10 Year Reunion collaborative performance will feature also. summer SING! performances are free and open to the public and you can stay in touch with summer SING! performance updates by LIKING the summer SING! Facebook page.
